Separate Windows accounts and reconnect behavior.
PrimalDesk opens Windows user sessions in a multi-user workflow. A PrimalDesk account grants access to a host; the Windows credentials supplied for the connection determine the Windows account and its permissions.
Reconnect before creating a session
PrimalDesk prefers an eligible disconnected session belonging to the same Windows account over creating a new one. Applications and unsaved work may still be present, subject to Windows session policies and application behavior.
If one person disconnects without signing out of Windows, another person using the same Windows credentials may resume that session and see the first person’s work. Use a separate Windows account for each person.
Disconnect and sign out
- Disconnect closes the client connection. It does not necessarily end the Windows session.
- Sign out of Windows ends the session and closes its applications. Save work first.
- Windows administrator policies can impose idle limits, disconnect limits and automatic sign-out.
Reconnection is not guaranteed after a host restart, session failure or policy-driven sign-out. Do not assume that sharing a PrimalDesk host means sharing the same Windows session.
